The Seychelles and Mauritius
The Seychelles and Mauritius
French influence, African roots

This gallery contains photographs of our 2 weeks in The Seychelles and Mauritius, which followed on directly from our week in Kenya on safari. The theory was, whilst we're out here, we may as well see them. Also, we'd just been gazumped on a house, so we decided to spend the money on a big holiday to cheer ourselves up. (This seems to have been a practice we have stuck with - big holidays!). In The Seychelles we stayed at the Coral Strand hotel (http://www.coralstrand.net) in Beau Vallon Bay on Mahe. In Mauritius (Google Maps), we stayed at La Pirogue (http://www.lapirogue.com) near the village of Flic en Flac on the west coast of the island and not far south of the capital, Port Louis.

After a hectic safari - and lots of photograph taking - our minds were not really on doing much more than resting and recuperating. The Seychelles (all 160+ islands) are picture postcard material and also include some interesting birds, animals and plant life (you'll be sure to hear about the Coco de Mer). Similarly, Mauritius can engage your brain in finding new ways of seeing a tropical island. Protect your camera quipment from sand, sun and sea, use your polariser judicially and take both wide angle and telephoto lenses.

All these photos are scanned slides taken on a Pentax ME Super with Tamron Adaptall-2 zoom lenses - 28-70mm and 70-210mm. I would have used Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji slide films (100, 200 and 400 ASA).
